The Paoli-Malvern-Berwyn (PMB) Rotary Club continues to provide food and cash donations to The Common Place’s newly established Food Giveaway Program for those living with food insecurity in Southwest Philadelphia.
It all started with an email from Gene Burke at The Common Place to Rich Scott from the PMB Rotary club. I thought this was something I could help out with so I reached out to my fellow Rotarians and friends of Rotary for support, said Rich Scott.
The support has been tremendous. Donations of food exceeded $875 and cash donations totaled $1,650. PMB Rotary and friends have raised more than $2,500 for those folks in need of food, something that many of us take for granted. Last week over 70 families were helped.
PMB is continuing its support for this program. The Food Giveaway runs every Tuesday between 11-1. Food is collected during the week and delivered Monday. If you have food to donate or want to make a cash donation please contact Rich Scott at ipginc52@gmail.com. He will be happy to arrange a pick up.
There is also a need for volunteers to help sort and pack the food. If that is something you would be interested in helping contact Rich Scott. You can also contact Gene Burke at geneburke@thecommomplacephilly.org or 267-275-8238 if you want to support the program directly.
